NEBOSH National General Certificate in Safety and HealthThe course aims to assist students to prepare for the Certificate examination of the National Examining Board in Occupational Safety and Health. This course will contribute to the effective management of health and safety. It is appropriate for general managers who have responsibilities for health and safety and for those who wish to progress towards a career in health and safety.

Course Contents

The course is classroom based and the syllabus includes three units. The units are management of safety (NGC1), controlling workplace hazards (NGC2) and practical assessment of hazards (NGC3). Items 1 and 2 are externally examined. This is a unitised course and credit accumulation is possible. There are no formal entry requirements, although a reasonable level of literacy is needed.

Training Assessment

You will be assessed by two 2 hour written examinations and a practical assessment. On successful completion of this course, candidates can progress to the NEBOSH Diploma course in Occupational Health and Safety.

Candidates attend one day per week for 11 weeks (7 hours per day), or one evening per week for 33 weeks (2.5 hours per week). A block programme of 11 days is also available subject to viable numbers.
